2010 Schedule

Posted by KevinD in Monday, April 19th 2010
Topics: Events, News, Official Events

I know it’s late, but with the future of our previous venue, All-Star Speedway, in doubt, we had to scramble to find some new venues for events this year.  Thanks to the help of the Sports Car Club of New Hampshire (SCCNH), we can now announce the current list of events for 2010.

All Events sanctioned under SCCNH take place at New Hampshire Motor Speedway, Route 106, Loudon NH.

  • Saturday, June 19th.
  • Saturday, August 14th.

Events will run on either the S1 or S3 parking lots and will take place from 8 am to 4 pm.  Since this venue is larger, our costs have risen.  Registration costs are outlined below:

  • $75 Pre-Registration (Online Registration coming soon.)
  • $100 at the Gate.

I know this is higher than All-Star, but the venue is much larger and better suited to our needs.  There will be bathroom facilities available on site and food/gas with a few miles.  Also, unlike our events at All-Star, the NHMS events are non-spectator events.  This does not mean spectators are not allowed, but all people in the event area must be either drivers or crew.  When we are using the S3 lot, there are grandstands for those that do decide to watch.  For more information, please review the updated Event Guidelines and Technical Regulations in the Event Information area.

Registration opens 30 days before the event and closes the Thursday the week of.  If anyone has any questions, please feel free to head over to the forums or contact any of the Board of Directors.  Thanks again and we look forward to having fun and burning off some tires.

Toyobaru Revealed

Posted by KevinD in Tuesday, October 6th 2009

From Autoblog: (click for full article)

Toyota’s President Akio Toyoda has said the automaker is in desperate need of an excitement injection, and here’s the first dose: the Toyota FT-86 Concept.

Inspired by the Corolla-based AE86 sports coupe of the ’80s, the FT-86 concept was designed by the automaker’s ED2 styling studio in France and bears a remarkable resemblance to the FT-HS concept shown at the Detroit Auto Show several years back.

Since it’s a “concept,” Toyota hasn’t divulged much about the FT-86 yet, but we do know it’s powered by a Subaru-derived 2.0-liter boxer four sending power to the rear wheels. Toyota focused on keeping the weight down to improve handling and, according to one source, the platform is unique to the concept. The engine sits lower in the engine bay to aid aerodynamics while keeping the center of gravity in check, and the overall dimensions of Toyota’s new 2+2 are 163.78 inches long and 69.29 inches wide, with a wheelbase of 101.18 inches.

After the FT-86 bows in concept form at the Tokyo Motor Show next month, the production model will be shown sometime next year with sales beginning sometime in late 2011 carrying a sticker price somewhere north of $20,000.
This is pretty serious business.  Although the car will launch in Japan in late 2011 as a Toyota model, expect the domestic model to be a Subaru.  It looks like car manufacturers are getting back to basics here and putting “fun” back in their cars.  This concept plus the Genesis Coupe make for a duo of very affordable RWD cars for the next generation.  I suspect we’ll be seeing more than just 240′s on the local drift circuit come next year…

Boston Cars and Copters

Re-posted from Yuppie Racing

Hello Again Car Enthusiasts!

It has been a while since everyone has heard from us; I hope everyone’s summer has been enjoyable. These last two months have seemed like some of the busiest summer months in years. With all the events going on there has been little time to put events together. Having said that, I am very excited to announce a very special upcoming event that is a bit different from the Cars and Coffee we have been hosting this year. With the help of a LOT of people over the last month or so, we have been able to organize something that is panning out to be very special.

This day is not quite the Cars and Coffee event everyone has come to know and love but something a little more. With the help of Driven Perfection, Autotrader, The Beantown Sound, Heliops, and Plymouth Municipal Airport management Yuppieracing.net would like to announce the 2009 Cars and Copters event organized to benefit the Saint Jude’s Children Research Hospital.

Plymouth Municipal Airport has agreed to host this event by providing us with the use of a number of its fields. This guarantees space for roughly 500 vehicles. Located on site is “Plane Jane’s” restaurant. In addition to the onsite restaurant we are hoping to have a catering company onsite to provide attendees the option of fresh bbq(hamburgers, hotdogs and ribs). Coast Guard Cadets will be insuring a safe and organized atmosphere. The event promises to be the first of its kind in the area. For directions to the Plymouth Municipal Airport, click here

In addition to an amazing display of cars, Heliops will have its own fleet of helicopters on hand and for those interested short tours of the area by air will be taking place. To reserve your place please email info@drivenperfection.com. In addition to Heliops’ fleet, we are hoping to secure a Blackhawk and Chinook for attendees to check out. Attendees will also be given the opportunity to win prizes via a raffle / helicopter ball drop. Prizes include a full detail from Driven Perfection. As mentioned ALL proceeds from the day will benefit Saint Jude’s Children Research Hospital.

As always, please remember to be on your best behavior. This is a fully operational airport and still requires us to pay attention to federal regulations as well as many local laws. Please refrain from doing any donuts, burnouts, drifting or racing of any kind. Police will be on site, and we all know they’ll be waiting for us on the public roads. Do not give them any reason to stop you.

For those of you interested in sponsoring the event to keep costs down please send an email to advertising@yuppieracing.net.

Lastly, help us spread the word! Invite your family, friends, co-workers, or that
random person down the street with the rare car. The more people the better
and we certainly have no shortage of space at this location. This event is a shine only event and has a rain date of September 27th.

Once again, hope to see everyone there,
Peter (Yuppieracing.net)
